Although our agritourism closes its doors in October for staff rest, the truth is that part of our project never takes a break. Visiting the plantation is a great way to get to know us, and in this post, we’ll tell you how.
Plantation calendar
This winter, we offer you the chance to visit the olive plantation of Sant Joan de Binissaida, where we harvest olives in the fall to produce our oil. The good news is that, this year, we will be able to sell it for the first time under the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) "Oli de Menorca," which has been granted to oil production on the island. Moreover, this PGI is the first organic designation awarded in Europe, which reflects the production methods used both at Sant Joan de Binissaida and other producing estates.
For this winter, we have established the following schedule of visits to the estate:- November 2nd, taking advantage of the November 1st holiday.
- December 7th, during the Constitution Day holidays.
- March 1st, just before spring, coinciding with the Balearic Islands Day.
What the visit includes
During your visit to the plantation, you will be able to see, in addition to the plantation itself, how we manage it and some interesting facts. You will also visit the olive mill where we produce the organic oil of Sant Joan de Binissaida.
After a short tour of the plantation, during which we’ll also share some details about the estate and Menorca’s unique ethnology, we will hold an oil tasting session. You don’t need any prior experience with tastings, as we will teach you the basic fundamentals to appreciate the sensory details of our oil.
But man cannot live by oil alone, especially not in Menorca. That’s why we will offer you a tasting of local products, including cheese and other delicacies made by collaborating estates.
