Exploring the sections of the Camí de Cavalls around Mahón, Es Castell, and Sant Lluís

The Camí de Cavalls is a historic trail that circles the island of Menorca, offering a unique experience for nature lovers, hikers, and cyclists. A small part of it lies very close to Sant Joan de Binissaida. Shall we discover it together?

This time, we will focus on the sections surrounding the municipalities of Mahón, Es Castell, and Sant Lluís, located in the southeastern part of the island, where Sant Joan de Binissaida is situated. These sections offer a variety of coastal landscapes, historic paths, and a complete immersion in the essence of Menorca, with some accessible on foot from our agritourism.

Stage 18: Es Grau - Mahón

This section connects the picturesque village of Es Grau with the city of Mahón. It begins in the Natural Park of s'Albufera des Grau, a protected area of great ecological richness, featuring wetlands and migratory birds. Along the way, you’ll find small coves like Cala Sa Torreta and pass through rolling terrain with views of Mahón’s natural harbor. It covers approximately 9.5 kilometers and is of medium difficulty.

Stage 19: Mahón - Cala Sant Esteve (Es Castell)

This section is perfect for a more relaxed walk. It starts at the port of Mahón, the second-largest natural harbor in the world, and continues to Cala Sant Esteve, a peaceful spot near Es Castell. Along the way, you can visit historical landmarks such as La Mola Fortress, an impressive 19th-century defensive structure. The 6.4 kilometers can be completed in about 2 to 3 hours, as it is of low difficulty.

Stage 20: Cala Sant Esteve - Punta Prima (Sant Lluís)

From Cala Sant Esteve, which is very close to Sant Joan de Binissaida, the path follows the coastline and passes through iconic spots such as Cala Rafalet, a hidden virgin cove nestled between cliffs, and S’Algar, a coastal development with basic amenities. Finally, the stage ends in Punta Prima, famous for its white sandy beach and its view of the Isla del Aire lighthouse. This section is of medium difficulty, covering 8.5 kilometers, which can be completed in 3 to 4 hours.

These sections of the Camí de Cavalls stand out not only for their natural beauty but also for their historical and cultural significance. They are an excellent way to discover the essence of Menorca while enjoying the outdoors.
